There are various reasons why you might want to hide your profile picture in WhatsApp Messenger. So, we explain here how you can do that and how you can even hide your WhatsApp only from certain people.

Change your profile picture privacy settings on WhatsApp

First, open WhatsApp and go to Settings, then Account, then Privacy, then Profile Photo. There, you'll see three options: Everyone, My Contacts, and Nobody.

The default option is for everyone to see your profile picture. Even if they can't see your name, they can usually see your photo.

However, you can change this and choose to have no one else see your photos at all or you can use the options among 'My Contacts' to restrict access to these photos to people you have saved in your contacts book.

If there's someone you want to hide their photos from, but keep their contacts, there's a WhatsApp trick you can apply.

Go to the contacts folder on your phone - not your WhatsApp contacts, but your actual phone contacts. Then, edit the person's number by putting #31# before their number, even before the international dialing code.

This #31# trick then removes that contact from your WhatsApp contact folder, but it means this person remains in your phonebook whenever you might need their number. In other words, this contact #31# will no longer count for the 'My Contacts' option in your WhatsApp privacy settings and you will be able to stop that person from seeing your profile picture in the messaging app.
